Hi Alex,

Thanks for your email, we arrived safely in Perth on 23rd. All tour arrangement went off flawlessly, general impression was that all personnel who supported us on the tour were very professional, friendly and sometimes went out of their way to satisfy our requests. Overall a very good trip, thanks for arranging the tour for us.

Below are a few comments and observations.

Kolkata:

Mr Amit Nandi met us at the hotel and provided all the information required for the trip in detail, very nice gentlemen. Even provided us with places to have dinners which were excellent suggestions. He also met us on our return and also facilitated the arrangement for the vehicle on the last day. Both drivers Munna And Dinesh were excellent took us all over without any issue very pleasant and accommodating. Mr Anirban our tour guide was great, very professional and a good knowledge of history. I think we could have cut one day off in KK. We managed to do quite a bit in KK including shopping, sightseeing etc………

Bhutan:

……….Bhutan was fantastic overall. Our guide Karma and driver Ugyen were excellent ambassadors for their country and business. Went out of their way to show us around. Definitely plan to go back to Bhutan………

Paro was ok, the highlight of the stay in Paro was the dinner at a local farmhouse, simple home-cooked food and great hospitality………

As indicated by Shiranee also, the tour was well organized and everyone we met were very friendly and accommodating. Great outcome for all of us.

Incredible! Everything was fantastic.

• QANTAS were so accommodating and looked after us well. Timing of flights were perfect.
• Snow our guide was great and did a fantastic job for us.
• All tours were good. Cooking class was a bit quick and rushed compared to what was advertised (I think they had overbooked and had another big tour group waiting out in the street) but it didn’t matter because Snow took us on an impromptu tour of the old Beijing Precinct which was lovely and enjoyed by the kids.
• Accommodation was good. Rooms were clean, modern and large in size. Location was perfect as we rarely spent longer than 30 minutes on the bus to any location we needed.
• Bullet Train and Xi’an was good.......
• The birthday cake was greatly appreciated – thank you.

Again, we couldn’t be happier with the tour arrangements for this trip. We thank you for taking on the feedback from last year and arranging for us what was a truly unforgettable experience that went perfectly to plan.

I have to congratulate you for organizing a flawless trip to Sri Lanka. What was so amazing was the quality of the accommodation, the food, and so cheap.

Highlights of the trip – the Safari, seeing wild elephants in the wild was a thrill, also the crocodiles, water buffaloes, mongoose, monkeys etc. Also our stay in Colombo at the Galle Face Hotel and the accommodation in Galle at the Aditya hotel – both were fantastic.

We did spend many hours touring in the Scope Bus (the driver was superb) seeing the countryside and Ben filled us in with lots of info – a good man.

It was a great experience, on the coast and at Ella, Heavens Edge…….

All went well thank you. We enjoyed the tours, sights and Bollywood Show. Your agents in Delhi/Agra were attentive. Had the one driver in Delhi who was very good. Sri Lankan Airlines was OK on the Australian legs but the Delhi legs were ordinary.

All in all a satisfying experience.

So sorry it has taken so long to get back to you, we have been super busy!!!!

We had such a wonderful time.

Mahi was beyond amazing, we felt very safe with him and his knowledge was wonderful. We truly enjoyed his company and he has a very infectious smile and personality. The trip would not have been the same without him.

I especially would recommend him if you ever have any single female travelers as I feel I would have felt incredibly safe with him on my own, he was so professional.

Sri Lanka was amazing, thank you for all the added extras also.

Negombo- jetwing blue was ridiculous, so nice, I could have stayed there for a couple more nights.

Colombo, you are correct as advised there was not too much to do in Colombo but we still had a wonderful time and so glad we went to st josephs and the museum was brilliant, it was nice to understand the history so well and we also had Mahi educating us the whole way round, We also visited an amazing temple there. The kingsbury is lovely!

Ministry of crab was so good we ended up cancelling kaema sutra and returning to ministry at the end of our trip. Very Yummy.

Kandy- Ozo was nice, staff were lovely and food was great. Really enjoyed the cultural show despite having to climb over a landslide to get there lol. Mahi was there looking after us the whole time. The temple of the tooth was brilliant also.

Nuwara Eliya- Loved the tea plantations, the scenery is stunning and really liked the grand hotel (sadly it was a “dry” day due to religious celebrations but we still had the best time, but would have been an awesome place to sit with a wine and listen to the pianist) Food here was also lovely.

Ella- very cool, very touristy, we enjoyed climbing little adams peak and we loved ella chill……

YALA!!!- wowsers, we could have spent a few days at jetwing yala- amazing, I loved it, food was great, rooms were out of this world and I love nature so having wild animals just roaming about was perfect. We did do a safari- sadly most of the animals didn’t want to come out to see us, but our driver was lovely and decided we would go for a ride outside of the park to find elephants instead (elephants are my favorite) and we did! Dowa rock temple is a must see and we loved it!

Unawatuna- really loved this little spot, thaproban pavilions was amazing and a perfect spot for a few nights. We chilled a lot here but did see the tsunami museum (very important for people to see this), a turtle hatchery and on the way to hikkaduwa we visited a moonstone mine and Galle

Galle was really lovely and would have loved to have had time to spend a night or 2 here, we returned from hikkaduwa for dinner one night because it was so nice.

Hikkaduwa- we had an issue with our room at Hikka tranz but to be fair they upgraded us straight away and we ended up in a lovely suite. It was nice round here, probably a more chilled version of unawatuna, we saw wild turtles which made me very happy.

The country is amazing, lonely planet cant even do it justice………..

Apologies for our late reply! We arrived back in Melbourne last Tuesday. Both myself and Ashton loved the Sri Lanka tour you planned for us and my parents. The political situation did not affect us at all and Tyrone was an amazing tour guide and driver.

We had our rooms upgraded at almost every hotel which was a pleasant surprise and for the Jetwing hotels, the hotel managers were all expecting our arrival as you had emailed them letting them know this, so thank you very much for that!

The Jetwing Yala and Heritance Kandalama hotels were probably the two standouts for us although all hotels were truly outstanding. It was such a stress free holiday with almost everything pre-organized and both yourself and Tyrone having a solid plan for each day.

I would highly recommend this trip to anyone I know, it was perfect! Thanks so much for all your work organizing everything, we certainly could not have planned something like this ourselves, we really appreciate it.

Anthony was amazing and I would highly recommend. He was super knowledgeable and was able to point us in the right direction of any additional things we did. Perhaps his best suggestion was the local college students artwork so I could buy an elephant painting for my new house. Everything with the hotels was fantastic. Our favourite was either Jetwing Yala or Amaara Forest as the service, location, food and cocktails were amazing……….

The flights went well. There were no problems there so thank you very much for organizing.

The flight from KL to Toronto took us almost 36 hours with the transits in Colombo and Dubai.

Only now we are fully recovered and back to normal.

We had a fantastic time in Sri Lanka, Kids loved it. The food, hospitality, the hotels and of course the amazing natural beauty of mother Lanka.

Our trip was awesome! Sri Lanka has changed a fair bit since I was last there, some for the better and some not.

Anthony was fantastic and we loved our time with him! He’s a very agreeable person. He was always on time, was polite, and very funny! He tells terrible jokes and we loved it! Would highly recommend him.

Beds were comfy in all hotels which is a real plus when on the move all the time. Ulagulla was an absolute standout for us. We loved the hotel and the setting. The staff were amazing and we wish we could have spent more time there. The hotel in Jaffna was comfortable, as was Trinco. Really enjoyed the difference in Jaffna and same in Trinco………………………..

………… Train trip to Ella was a great experience………….. 98 Acres was also a lovely hotel.

The hotel in Galle was lovely. Good spot and the ability to use facilities at Jetwing Lighthouse was really good…………

The trip was very enjoyable. Hotels in India were very good, particularly at Shimla and Jaipur. Drivers and guides were also good and we were always met, with one minor glitch when we arrived at Amritsar. In India there seemed to be a bewildering array of people dealing with us – drivers, guides and company representatives – and we certainly felt supported. Itinerary was good with a variety of places and experiences. Particularly liked the flag lowering ceremony on the Pakistan border at Amritsar – a unique experience.

Nepal was the main reason for our trip and the trekking was definitely the highlight. The guide we had was very friendly and knowledgeable, the accommodation and food was much better than we expected and the scenery was fabulous…………The trek was fantastic.

So, overall very happy customers.

…………….. we have all had the holiday of a lifetime. All the hotels have been fantastic and we have been greeted by the manager and made feel very welcome and treated like special guests.

Thank you for your welcoming words. And thank you for the lovely surprise dinner at Amaara Forest!

All your tour arrangements went like clockwork. The flights were on-time, and the seating, as requested, had us all together.

The first driver and assistant who drove us up to Jaffna were very accommodating of our various requests to drive around visiting up north.

We really enjoyed having Vijendra as our guide for the next part of the tour. He was able to build full daily itineraries based on our feedback that let us see and do as much as possible. It was great having him to attend to all the details right up to checking us in at the end of each day. He was knowledgeable about all the sights and we never once caught him out with all our random questions.

The driver (Palitha) and assistant for our last leg down to Galle were also very helpful in proactively suggesting things to do and see around the south.

………………All in all, we had a great time in Sri Lanka: catching up with relatives, seeing places we’d been waiting a long time for, and showing the country to our children.

……………. Everything was FANTASTIC!

…………….Two hotels, that need mentioning for their splendid service and surroundings, were:

The Hotel in Jaipur, Suyra Villa – Being newly renovated and beautiful colonial style clean rooms, (with free wifi)

The hotel in Orchha, (Amar Mahal) You really need 2 days there to appreciate the surroundings and atmosphere.

Both hotels were amazing, the buildings, the charm, everything.

Everything else, went exactly as planned. The wheelchairs, the late check out at the Ibis on Bencoolen, (I thought was 4pm, turns out was 6pm) and the transfer bus picked us up at 6.10pm. The Hotel was clean, breakfast selection was excellent, staff exceptional and the location ideal.

Of all the trips we’ve done, I think India has won hands down.

The tour guides were excellent, most spoke English very well, and no complaints.

The bus driver we had was phenomenal, as we only had a tour guide in each city and only during daylight hours, our driver was able to refer us to many local restaurants and the like, which we would never have known about.

……..With regards to the trip it was absolutely fantastic. It was really great to see where Dad grew up, and I will definitely be going back.

I always knew it was the Sri Lankan way to enjoy food, however I didn't expect to come home 6kgs heavier!!!………

……I have never had wi-fi in a bus as I travelled around before, this was extremely handy throughout the trip.

With regards to the hotels, I think all were very good, but the standout for me was Cinnamon Wild in Yala. This was just a great experience, and the service was absolutely faultless……………

………..I must say Alex for the cost of the trip we paid, I thought we received incredible value for money. All the activities and hotels far exceeded my expectations, and we never had a dull moment, yet never felt rushed.

I really don’t have any constructive feedback at all, as I though the way the tour went was pretty well faultless.

I will be recommending you to all our family and friends, and I am sure I will be back in touch with you for our next trip to Sri Lanka, as I will definitely be back.

I think it’s safe to say that Andrew and I had the most wonderful time. We loved everything about the Sri Lankan culture and the landscapes were just beautiful. We have already decided we would like to return in the near future, potentially with our families. Thank you so much for all of the efforts you went to with organising our timetable. We were overwhelmed by the luxurious hotels you booked for us – a lovely surprise and not something we are used to.

Anthony was fabulous! Nothing but helpful, polite and jovial the entire trip. Came and did all of the walks/treks/safari’s with us. We felt very safe and secure with him……..

Each of the hotels attention to Andrew’s nut allergy was above what we expected. They walked him through each dish at any buffet meals we attended and made sure they tracked him down if we forgot to approach the chef. Of particular note was the head chef at Kassapa Lions Rock Hotel – he went above and beyond to cater for Andrew’s taste preferences.

My favourite hotel was Jetwing St Andrew’s. They upgraded us to a suite and it was absolutely beautiful. The staff there were just so professional and friendly- really stood out as a fine establishment.

My activity highlight was the Pinnewala Elephant Orphanage and Kaudulla National Park jeep safari. We both loved the feel of Ella too and would love to spend some more time there on another trip as well as Galle.

The Singapore Airline flights were as comfortable as you can expect for economy………

Finally our time in Arugambay was wonderful! Just what we were looking for and we would recommend Stardust Hotel. Staff there were lovely and the room was comfortable. A/C was good and much needed! One of Stardust’s employees Aziz runs his own little side business with his Tuk Tuk and he organised a 2 hour lagoon tour for us to Pottuvil Point and back. We had a second one planned too for crocodile spotting but weather did not permit.

Jetwing Yala was great. It is a beautiful resort. The staff were so happy and friendly they decorated our bed and gave us a cake too. They served our dinner out on the cliff to make us feel special. We loved Yala.

Hikka Tranz by Cinnamon was also great. …… A really lovely spot. All breakfasts were great.

Cinnamon Red. We got a penthouse, cocktails and cup cakes. We were really spoilt and couldn’t believe it.

Our flights were all good.

Just a quick note to thank you for your work on our trip. We had a great time.

The accommodation was comfortable and friendly, the food fantastic. I am missing curry and rice and going through withdrawal. Our driver, Sudharman, or Silva to us, really went above and beyond to make sure we saw everything and more. He was very knowledgeable about the wildlife in the national parks we visited, particularly the bird life which really added to our appreciation of what we were seeing. He also knew the complex history which he would tell us about as we visited the historic sites. The weather was also great despite fears of monsoonal conditions.

Cinnamon Red was a lovely spot to end our trip extremely comfortable and well located.

I really had a very enjoyable and enlightening three weeks and now have a better understanding and love for Sri Lanka, its culture and its people. I thought that the itinerary provided a great variety of activities and experiences.

For me exploring and climbing the Sigirya Lion Rock and being able to walk around the ancient Anuradhapura site, were highlights. And of course, seeing so many Jeffrey Bawa designed buildings and staying and eating at some top hotels were also very memorable. We had a great trip and you organised it extremely well. The itinerary was extremely well thought out and flowed very well. For those of us that had been before there was enough new things and places to see and wonderful food to eat! But it was also great to go back to some places and see it again and talk to the new group about it. I can now at least pronounce names and recognise so much more.

The hotels were excellent and again well thought out. (We loved the Yala Hotel!)

……We were extremely well looked after with Suga who was a very good and careful driver of a big bus. Likewise Anton who was delightful and we looked forward to his smile every day. Benjamin was an extremely knowledgeable guide. His general knowledge was amazing! He is very clever and very interesting. I fully recommend each of them. A very good choice. More magic moments were had at a special birthday party for three visitors from Australia at Beach Lodge Negambo, Sri Lanka.

Birthday girl Joanna, along with fellow travelers Graeme and Katherine, enjoyed the festivities, all arranged by travel agent Alex Fernando at Travel Glen in Melbourne.

Host Royston de Zilwa entertained guests with his usual bag of tricks, showcasing years of experience in illusion and sleight-of-hand, honed from entertaining children in the Negombo area.

The highlight of the evening was the presentation of a birthday cake, carried to the table by torchbearers and ceremoniously presented to Joanna, who was delighted by the surprise.

Reflecting on the event, Joanna later remarked, “It really was a magical evening, totally unexpected and a wonderful surprise! I couldn’t have asked for a better birthday party!”

Thanks for all your help, everything worked out just as planned:

• No problems with Rail Passes and actually found we could use them on most Tokyo Subway lines as well.
• Keio Plaza was a great hotel, nice to enjoy the Luxe Lounge on 34th floor, thanks for arranging. Great location, really enjoyed being in Shinjuku close to restaurants and subway.
• Studio Ghibli was amazing, a real highlight.
• Absolutely loved Kamikochi, the Alpen hotel was incredible, so glad we took up the meal option. It was some of the best food we had (see photo). It's actually Ryokan style accom with futons and shared bath houses etc. Great service.
• Kyoto was fantastic, the 1 day temple tour was amazing and we loved the hotel Okura. Gion Hatanaka was very luxurious and a great location near temples and gardens.
• Thanks for the Kyoto map you sent (the handicraft Centre one). we used it all day and every day we were there!
• The food everywhere was amazing. Can't quite believe the variety and quality especially loved the basements in the department stores and the 7/11 Convenience stores (was the only place I could find an ATM that worked and the food and alcohol was so cheap!)
• Happy Potter world at Universal Studios was exactly what we were hoping for as fans of the books.
• We even bought baseball tickets and saw a game at the Tokyo Dome.
• Fish market tour was great as a real eye opener as was sushi making.
• We explored heaps of other areas in Tokyo including Ueno (Tokyo National Museum), Ginza (for galleries and shopping), Harajuku (girls loved the shopping there), Shibuya (shopping and neon).

Can't wait to go back.

Here's a photo of the end of our charity bike ride. We ended up riding 525kms from Bangkok to Kao Lack for charity Hands Across the Water, where we were met by the kids from the orphanage.
